Acrylics and graphite on canvas
2020
This work of art was initially intended to be a completely abstract piece of work, perhaps just colored areas and structure, or an abstract landscape. The artist left the outcome of this work completely open until almost to the end. She wanted to experiment with different materials, textures, colors and lines, until a clear line, a topic, emerged for her. And like so often in her works, abstract but floral structures emerged in strong, vibrant colors as a contrast to the neutral, cool colors surrounding them. As always, the artist works from dark to light, but also subsequently accentuates with darker shades of blue and green. Additional accents are set with a water-soluble graphite pencil, which is previously immersed in water and runs almost brute through the composition. Scratches, taught with a sharp blade, also help break down the beauty.
